Robin Williams, R.I.P.

Robin Williams dead at 63, apparently of a suicide.  It is indeed sad to realize that such a funny man, who made so many laugh, was suffering from deep depression.  He engaged tirelessly in USO tours to entertain the troops. A great career, an Oscar winner, and from the brief threads I have read or heard, was a genuinely king and good human being!  It is indeed sad.

What Next?

I heard this from a comedian, Bill Maher perhaps (if not, apologies to whoever said this).
The media parading all the neocons to opine on Iraq, particularly having Cheney on, is like the media inviting OJ Simpson to opine on TV regarding the Oscar Pistorius trial!
Laughable is it not?

Dolphins… Dolphins… Dolphins…!

Baltimore Ravens 26 – Miami Dolphins 23
Once again, the Dolphins seem to be reverting to their old ways.  Flirt with victory and then end in disappointment.  Down 3 and the ball was near the Ravens 30 yard line with a minute to go.  The ball has been spiked to stop the clock.  2nd down and 10 yards to go.  We have a good kicker, who had been perfect this season.  Hopefully we can punch it in and win.  At the […]

Lion as Man’s Best Friend?

This is absolutely amazing.  From the Huffington Post:
Self-trained animal behaviorist and lion whisperer Kevin Richardson has some unorthodox practices for dealing with large predators like these lions.
He claims that “his unique method of getting to know their individual personalities, what makes each of them angry, happy, upset, or irritated — just like a mother understands a child — has caused them to accept him like one of their own, into their fold.”

The Dolphins make me cry!!

A bit late on this post.  But Monday night’s game was a downer.  Dolphins reverted to one of their inexplicable stretches of ineptitude towards the end of the 1st half.  Down 14-10 and driving towards a score – possibly take a lead or make it a one-point game while heading into half-time – and Tannehill fumbles the ball, after rushing past the first down marker!  Things then went downhill from there – Result:  Saints 38 – Dolphins 17

Football (Soccer) World Cup 2022

FIFA has awarded the World Cup 2022 to Qatar.  And that has led to stories such as this in “Deadspin”:

The logistical problems that are already plaguing the 2022 World Cup in Qatar are myriad, but planning for the event presents even bigger problems than trying to figure out how to play soccer in 120-degree temperatures. Namely, the deaths of hundreds of migrant workers who are building infrastructure for the World Cup in slave-like conditions.
Qatar is a country that was built on […]
